The Joyful Mysteries (Said on Mondays, Saturdays, Sundays of Advent, and Sundays from Epiphany until Lent)

I. The Annunciation
    The Angel Gabriel announces to Mary that she is to be the mother of God
II. The Visitation
    Mary goes to visit Elizabeth and share her good news
III. The Nativity
    Jesus is born in Bethlehem
IV. The Presentation (sometimes the Purification)
    Mary presents Jesus at the temple according to the law.
V. The Finding in the Temple
    Mary and Joseph find Jesus after he is left behind in Jerusalem.

The Luminous Mysteries (Said on Thursdays throughout the year)

I. The Baptism in the Jordan
    Jesus is revealed as the Son of God
II. The Wedding at Cana
    Jesus begins his public ministry
III. The Proclamation of the Kingdom
    Jesus brings the word of God to the world
IV. The Transfiguration
    Jesus is shown in his divine glory to the Apostles
V. The Institution of the Eucharist
    Jesus gives us His Body and Blood at the first Mass

The Sorrowful Mysteries (Said on Tuesdays, Fridays, and daily from Ash Wednesday until Easter Sunday)

I. The Agony in the Garden
    Jesus prayed in Gethsemane before his crucifixion
II. The scourging at the pillar
    Pilate has Jesus whipped to placate the crowd
III. The crowning with thorns
    Jesus is dressed up and mocked by the soldiers
IV. Jesus carries his cross
    Jesus is forced to carry his cross to Golgotha
V. Jesus dies on the cross
    Jesus surrenders His life for our sins

The Glorious Mysteries (Said on Wednesdays, and Sundays throughout the year)

I. The Resurrection
    Jesus rises from the dead
II. The Ascension
    Jesus ascends into heaven after forty days with the Apostles
III. The Descent of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost)
    The Holy Spirit as tongues of fire descends on the Apostles
IV. The Assumption
    The Virgin Mary is taken up into heaven body and soul
V. The Coronation
    Mary is crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth
